Hello Hume-Fogg families,

Welcome to Hume-Fogg!  My name is Stephanie Durman, president of the Hume-Fogg  Association and the proud mom of a Hume-Fogg senior (how did that happen so fast?).

Our focus for the 2022-23 school year is engagement: we are working hard to build community and increase involvement. On July 30, we kicked the year off with the first picnic for incoming freshman to be held in three years. It was a great success, and it was fantastic to see so many new members of the Hume-Fogg community getting to know each other. We plan to build on this momentum with a variety of social events for parents and students (mostly separate events, since our teenagers do not necessarily want to hang out with us).  Already, we have planned informal monthly coffees starting at 7:45 am, alternating between Fido and Bongo East. We're brewing ideas for more events and welcome your suggestions.

We have a robust board and an active slate of committee volunteers this year. We are still looking for a vice president and a hospitality chair, but there will also be opportunities for single-time volunteer events throughout the year, especially for teacher appreciation. I am particularly excited that we have rejuvenated the Class Representatives program by forming a committee and having at least two representatives for each class. This committee will plan events for each class during the year.

Finally, I want to make all parents are aware of the Max Harris Fund, which is described on a separate page. The purpose of this fund is to provide confidential assistance to students with financial need to help cover school-related expenses. Please do not allow cost to prevent your child from participating in any school-related activity, from sports to theater to chess.

Best,
Stephanie Durman
